Preparation for the opening of “Blue Art Hostel”

Well, today I would like to talk about the preparations for the opening of “Blue Art Hostel”.

Renovating the family home and preparing to open “Blue Art Hostel”

I have recovered my parents’ house in Kitahiroshima-cho with my family, Hiroshima Prefecture, and have begun preparations to open Blue Art Hostel.

Overview of Blue Art Hostel

I have traveled all over the world, not only in Japan, and stayed in many hostels.
On the occasion of turning 65, I decided to open “Blue Art Hostel” in my parents’ home.

“Blue” is because I was fascinated by the charm of blue in ‘Shaouen, the Blue City’ in Morocco, North Africa, where I traveled with my second son at the end of 2023.

“Art” is because I like to take pictures in the ‘casual streets’ of ‘strange cities’ and I want to display such pictures.

Rust removal in parking lots

The stairs, the tops, and the columns are all rusty rust.
Now, I pondered how to remove the rust.

Then I bought a workbench to work at height.

The second son removes the rust steadily by hand.

Mortar coating of stair treads

I bought some mortar painting tools at a DIY store and started to work!

I bought “dry mortar” at “Nishimura-Joy” and added water before starting the mortar coating!

Staircase painting

My second son is very careful with his work.
He paints every inch of the staircase.

Painting of block walls

The block walls were painted white, and the stairs are two-tone blue and turquoise blue.

We finished the stairs and block walls and started painting the tops.
