A casual street in a French city is stylish and simple

Hello! My name is Inosho.
This time, I would like to introduce some photos I took of “ordinary streets” in French cities I have visited.

A casual street in a French city

We hope to show you the charm of an ordinary street that is not a tourist spot or a main street. Let me begin by introducing you to some of them.

Bordeaux

This is a casual street in Bordeaux, southwest France. It is probably a residential street, but it is quiet and secluded with few pedestrians. Personally, I am honestly envious to be able to live in such a cool building.

Bordeaux is also called the “Moon City” because of the crescent shape of its city center. There are many tourist attractions and the city is also famous for Bordeaux wine, so it is recommended for sightseeing.

Toulouse

This is an ordinary street in Toulouse, the fourth largest city in the south of France. As a big city, it is very cool and photogenic despite being an ordinary street in the city.

Toulouse and the rest of southern France are very close to neighboring Spain. Therefore, I felt that the atmosphere of Toulouse and its people are similar to that of Spain and Italy. In other words, there is a strong Latin atmosphere.

On the other hand, when I went to Paris and Orleans in the north, I personally felt that the atmosphere was similar to that of Germany or England.

Brieve Laguarde

There is a town called Brive-la-Gaillarde that connects Toulouse and Bordeaux in a triangle. I got the impression that there are few tourist spots and many local French people. I don’t think you can find much information about it in guidebooks.

I decided to visit there by chance during my trip. There is nothing special about the city, and it is not a city suitable for sightseeing.

However, when I check the photos I took in Breevla Gaillarde, I also think that it is a surprisingly photogenic city. If you are interested in experiencing a slightly minor European cityscape, I might be able to recommend it to you as a surprise.

Limoges

This is a casual street in central Limoges, a city famous for its porcelain. It is said that Limoges porcelain tableware is preferred in Parisian restaurants.

I had the impression that there were not that many tourists in Limoges, the city of porcelain. I felt more of a calm and local atmosphere.

However, Limoges Cathedral, Limoges train station, and other magnificent buildings are worthy of sightseeing. Another charm of Limoges is that you can see the cityscape peculiar to the central part of the country, which is somehow different from the northern and southern parts.

Orléans

Orleans is located in north-central France

Orleans is located in north-central France, about an hour from Paris by train. I felt that the white-colored streets and buildings were typical of a city in northern France. Well, there are many white-colored streets in France as a whole.

Orléans is also a city with strong ties to the French hero Jeanne d’Arc. From the French point of view, it was Jeanne d’Arc who liberated Orleans from the British during the Hundred Years War.

Many tourist attractions are also related to Jeanne d’Arc. There are statues, houses, and chapels of Jeanne d’Arc.

Because of its proximity to Paris, the city’s atmosphere inevitably resembles Paris. As I have come all the way up north from the south of France, I felt that Orleans is the gateway to Paris.

Dieppe

The last one is Dieppe in Normandy, the northernmost part of France. It is a port town facing the English Channel near the Straits of Dover. It is located right on the other side of the strait, where England is located.

This is a casual street in such a city of Dieppe. It is a relatively modern residential area. Incidentally, it seems that in Europe, in order to protect the historical appearance of the city, there are rather strict rules by law for the construction of modern buildings.

Since Dieppe is a port town, it has tourist resources such as beaches. So, although it is a small town, I remember that there were quite a few tourists. If you like European port towns, you should definitely visit Dieppe.

An ordinary street in France is beautiful

This is France, after all. I hope you have been able to see the charm of even the most ordinary streets, such as residential areas.

You can find a casual street when you wander around the city without intending to. Sometimes you can even find a quiet street just beyond one of the main streets. When you are sightseeing in France, please try to find your own “unassuming street.

See you tomorrow!
